It's nice to hear that they've found a net-gain by using self-organizing teams. The article posted plenty of benefits, but I didn't notice any mention of downsides. My personal experience with self-organizing teams has been quite the opposite. I'd love to hear back from them in a few years regarding how it played out for them. It would be great to have more data to predict when self-organizing teams will work and when they won't.
