I grew up in the 70s-80s (in Australia). 2-3 hours would've been pretty much universal, I think, and more likely to be >3 than <2. And half or more of it really, really bad. I've never admitted to anyone some of those deeply crappy US series from the 80s I watched, and am not starting now! Yeah, I turned out fine.. but all those hours watching crap. The movies/series had ads in them too, a lot of them.
