Apple macOS Monterey 12 Performance Is Surprisingly Competitive with Linux
- drewg123 5y agoI wish they also inclided lmbench style microbenchmarks (time to open files, fork, ipc latency, etc). That was always an area where MacOS lagged behind pretty much everything by factors of 2 or more. The closest thing they have are some compilation benchmarks where MacOS comes in last, but not by such a huge margin as I would expect.
- rdsnsca 5y agoIf they tested on a M1 Mac the compilation would of been faster: https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/17/apple-silicon-m1-compiles-code-as-fast-as-mac-pro/ https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/17/apple-silicon-m1-compil...
- thecompilr 5y agoThat is not how you compare operating systems. They used the same system. It is not a CPU benchmark.
