I tried this when I switched to a privacy ROM but ultimately I can't cough up my 1 VPN slot, I need to be always on my home network to use the various self hosted services I rely on. I heard on matrix that at some point Datura Firewall may allow more fine grained host level blocking, fingers crossed.
