I usually start here if I am considering an interesting sounding product, but am not sure if a better option is already known to exist. 90% of the time if I google "[product type] wirecutter" I get a "Top x of [insert year here]" for that exact type of product. Great starting point to do more research. The reviews also sometime mention factors to consider that I hadn't thought of before if the product category is relatively new to me. So even if I don't end up getting one of their top picks it helps to know what properties to watch out for.
