Not talking about the Tulsa race massacre, is an example of society at large choosing, through inattention or other social forces, to not care about something they should probably choose to care more about. Not being allowed to talk about Tiananmen Square massacre is society being told what to find worthy of attention. While the ends may on occasion align, I think it’s an important distinction. But it is also worth considering “practical” freedoms.
