I miss the days when I traveled cross country with nothing but a Rand McNally atlas. To be free of the fear and anxiety of not knowing "where I am" (I am right here!) again is my current goal. However, now that traffic can be a mess in most cities (which I feel is new), I favor using my smartphone to avoid those situations when I can, but mostly I favor avoiding cities and taking the "long way" to preserve my sanity. I live in a van so this is more of a challenge for me than the average commuter.
