They have access to a lot more information that affects the entire market. There are only hundreds of members of Congress and they are payed well and have great benefits. It's not like they're being repressed. What benefit is there to them trading stocks? > This would basically force them to trade long on companies they truly believe in, just like CEOs have to do. Sure, this would prevent them from getting a quick buck but what's going to stop them for being biased with the companies they are long in.
