It's dangerous when members of the political left try to out-socialist each other in a race to the bottom, so it's refreshing to hear a statement that rejects that virtue-signalling dynamic. But having restrictions on stock trading, that people voluntarily agree to, as a condition for being allowed to hold office, is perfectly consistent with a free market economy. Holding public office is a privilege, not a right.
