If only they had a cash cow, like how Microsoft has Windows and Office, so development of the language could be subsidized.
- steerablesafe 5y agoThe main cash cow of Mathematica is the library, not necessarily the language. They could certainly make the language more open, while keeping the secret sauce in the library. They could also open up some core parts of the library too.
- alisonkisk 5y agoWhy bother? You can use open source alternatives if that's all you want.
