Have you ever thought of buying a LaserJet printer (or even an InkJet one)? You can grab PDFs, and print them with negligible costs. You can also do tricks like printing two pages on one A4 size side. Although it is illegal, it should be very cheap. And, for most technical books (w/o graphs, etc. depending on color), B&W will do just fine.
