I like it. Simple and to the point.
Answers the basic command: Give me the scanned document, dammit! If someone doesn't understand how complex that can get then they haven't lived through ftp / complex http forms and silly ux that involves all sorts of crazy complex javascript and similar nonsense.
The fancier websocket / UX is more things to go wrong. More support code. Plus if people really want that they can contribute themselves or set up a patreon.
- dusted 5y agoThat is exactly the perspective I had when I made it. I had a very simple problem, some times, we need to scan, how to achieve with least possible effort. I spent less time implementing this (includes installing the raspberry pi os) than I've spent in the past trying to get windows on the wifes pc to recognize that old psc1600 (trash-picked, only using it as a scanner). Now we can share it over the network, plugged the laser-printer into the pi as well and shared that via cups. Lives improved.
