Cornell University reports more than 900 Covid-19 cases this week
- everybodyknows 5y ago> ...the school has decided to shut down its Ithaca, New York, campus, where it has about 25,600 students.
- PaulHoule 5y agoIt's not shut down to the extent that it was last year, when they sent most of the workers (me) home. There is very little left in the semester to cancel. They did cancel my unit's holiday party though. For the record, Cornell stayed open through much of the pandemic but had students submit to frequent testing. We had a minor outbreak at the start of the semester which caused them to put an indoor mask mandate into effect. Other than that the semester was relatively normal. We went from having a handful of positive results to having 250+ positive results for a few days in a row which is why they pushed the panic button. So far it seems only students are affected, the positive rate for staff is still pretty low. I am planning on packing my laptop at end of day today and working from home tomorrow, although the campus is soon going to be a ghost town where there is nobody to get infected from.
