Here, I do that but also upvote based on someone being the opposite of a troll: I will sometimes upvote comments that aren't super informative if they contribute to a general tone/culture of supporting discussion. (Like apologies or 'I was wrong' type comments; I think it's good if people can admit mistakes so I upvote to try to encourage this.)
