I try not to downvote opinions, even if they are blatantly stupid. On the other hand, disagreeing in a clever way will earn an upvote from me.
- zaphar 5y agoIf someting is factually wrong I give the person the benefit of the doubt and assume they just don't know. In those situations rather than downvoting I usually just post a comment with a correction. I don't think understandable ignorance is personally worth my downvote. It's an opportunity to educate instead.
