Show HN: My newest startup, Kiveve
Hey guys!
Im so happy to announce the launch of my new startup, Kiveve.
Kiveve is a traffic exchange network created to help quality content bloggers and webmasters increase their traffic and therefore their revenue.
We are at our very early stages and we are now open for website application to join our network
I'd love to know what you think about it!
- niico 15y agoTo learn more about us visit http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters or visit our blog http://kiveve.tumblr.com http://kiveve.tumblr.com
- jmtame 15y agoMy first gut reaction is: this sounds wrong. I don't understand how you're sending more traffic, although your intentions may be altruistic (solve the major problem of how to get people to test your site out). If you're just trying to convince people you're going to dump traffic on them, I believe those businesses already exist in the form of link/traffic exchange networks. And those are not interesting to me at all. But if you're saying I can get some more beta testers who won't trash my site, I'm interested. Can you explain how exactly that works in as plain English as possible?
- chetan51 15y agoLove the website design.

- mkr-hn 15y agoWhat does the widget look like? Is it customizable? "Quality site" and "concerned with how new gadgets look/behave" tend to go together.
- chetan51 15y agoThe form on http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters/start/ http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters/start/ isn't working.
- chetan51 15y agoNever mind, it sent the data correctly, but it displayed an error page upon submission.
- RegEx 15y agoThese are some of the most obnoxious headlines I've read in a while. "If you are like Sweeet... Tell me more! Click Here" "Fancy Pants Algorithm" "Ninja Time Analytics" I suppose there's a demographic that responds positively to that type of diction. If that's the case, you've done a good job of narrowing your target market. Also, use more text and less text-images!
- mikeklaas 15y agoHow can you send 2x traffic back to every site? Is this a click-based ponzi scheme
- deleted 15y ago[deleted]
- templaedhel 15y agoFrom the about page[1]: "For every click you send, we will send you back up to 200% the amount of traffic you sent". That line is misleading, agreed. [1] http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters/about/ http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters/about/
- heelhook 15y agoIt does sound like a Ponzi scheme, but even then, not even Madoff could do 200% so kudos if that's for real.

- OmarIsmail 15y agoThe answer is because the network isn't a self contained system. Network sites get traffic from other sources (Facebook, twitter, Google). So let's say Site A gives generates 1 click. Site B and Site C get lots of traffic from Google, they have the supply to send to Site A two visitors (through impressions and CTRs). It's not a bad system, and of course will depend on network effects so the more sites that join the network the better. But resolving the chicken and egg issue at the beginning is always the big problem.
- ChrisNorstrom 15y agoBut then when site B and C send two visitors to A you need 4 sites to send 4 visitors (or another 2 sites to send 2 visitors each, or 1 site to send 4 visitors) to site B and C. And so on and so on, this can't go on forever because it multiplies. If I send someone 1 visitor I need to get back 2 visitors, the people that send me those 2 visitors will need to get back 4, for those 4 visitors sent we need 8 visitors sent back to the sites that sent us 4, and 16 visitors to make up for the 8 we just received and so on and so on. That can't go on forever, that's what a pyramid scheme is. Even if there are sites that have lots of traffic from google or facebook or twitter the number of users on the internet are NOT infinite. From what I'm understanding, which the site doesn't do a very good job of explaining, is that participating users put a widget on their site that displays thumbnails and links to other similar sites. Almost like a... "Visit / Discover sites similar to this one" which has links that send my visitors to other websites that have the same "topic" as mine. Other participating sites similar to mine have the widget as well and visitors from there can discover my site. How is it possible, without being a ponzi/pyramid scheme, that every time a user clicks on one of the links on the widget on my site, you're going to send 2 visitors back to mine? That would mean on the other sites' widgets you'd have to display a link to my site until 2 visitors click through to it so I can get my 2 visitors. That means the links on the widgets will need to change so that those 2 sites get 4 visitors sent back to them, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.... What if I send through 15 visitors, how on earth am I going to get 30 visitors back then the sites that sent me those 30 visitors get 60 visitors back then the sites that sent those 60 visitors get 120 visitors back, then 240, then 480, 960, 1,920, 3,840. And all of this is just from the domino effect of My ->1<- website. Imagine 700 or so participating sites. Eventually you'll start getting into the billions and trillions of visitors needed to pay back all the sites for the traffic they sent in. Even if you send back 10 visitors for every 9 sent, that's not sustainable. Even if some of those visitors count towards multiple sites. I don't mean to call you out as a ponzi scheme but I just don't see how this is sustainable. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm usually bad at math.
- kooshball 15y agobeautiful website. I see an font error here though. on chrome in lion http://imgur.com/CS6C8 http://imgur.com/CS6C8
- yan 15y agoThe first two sentences I read ended in ", huh?" It's very disorienting and feels unprofessional.
- chromedude 15y agoCompletely agreed - that was my first reaction also, but I would give them a little slack because my guess is that they aren't the greatest at English because they are in Paraguay
- AltIvan 15y agoThe desing is only good in the home page. http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters/start/ http://www.kiveve.com/webmasters/start/ have Times New Roman in one side and Arial in the other and Helvetica in the title; that doesn't match. The FAQ is in another website and it haves very different colors with wierd line-heights. Oh yeah, and the login button doesn't work.
- glimcat 15y agoLots of typos on the front page. Also, bad math. 28638 received over 23634 sent is a 200.03% return rate? No. "Sent" and "received" are already very ambiguous - is "sent" what I sent you or what you sent me? But either way, it doesn't work out to a two-fold return.
- dkrich 15y agoLogin link is broken. Good luck with the project, though! I'm viewing in Chrome and there are a lot of font spacing issues, and the "About" page looks like Times New Roman which I am assuming is unintentional.
- aaronbrethorst 15y agoFeedback: - Typos: "Kiveve is a traffice exchange platform. Basically, a way for you to multiply your sites visitors. That means, everytime you send us a visitor, we'll send you around twice as many back. We multiply your traffic. Free." - 'traffice' -> 'traffic' and 'sites' -> 'site's'. Remove the comma after 'that means'. 'around' -> 'about' - After the "We multiply your traffic. Free" bit, it would be helpful to know how. Right now, my response isn't, "wow, tell me more!" but instead, "Free? Bullshit." - text encoding issue in the next paragraph: I'm seeing "Kiveves" on OS X 10.7 w/ Safari. - "Ninja Time Analytics" raises my hackles for the same reason that descriptions of developers as 'ninjas' or 'rockstars' does. - "from the day 1 you put our widget in your site." -> "from the day you add our widget to your site." Also, make "add our widget" a link to your signup page. - "Stay tunned to future upcoming features" -> "Stay tuned for updates." Net net: I am skeptical but intrigued.
- samrat 15y agoThere's a grammatical error on the website's blog too- "On September 1th"
- niico 15y agoThank you! Hey, whenever you need help with your spanish homework let me know! I feel like I owe you :)
- aaronbrethorst 15y agoLo lamento no hablo español and donde esta el baño are the only two phrases I've ever learned, sadly :)
- niico 15y agoThank you guys for all the great feedback. I really appreciate it! We apologize for the typos. English is not our first language eventhough that is not an excuse, we'll fix them right away! I know at the moment everything seems a bit abstract but we are working to make everything clear and transparent.
- rorrr 15y ago28K->23K. How the hell is this a 200.3% return rate? More like a -17.9% return rate.
- rs 15y agoThis reminds me of LinkExchange (Tony Hsieh's previous startup). Is it any different from that ?
