“Microsoft Edge will collect and use data from your web searches”
- 908B64B197 5y agoHow is that different than Chrome and Safari?
- Apaec 5y agoTwo wrongs don't make a right.
- BizarroLand 5y agoThis is a textbook whataboutism
- pinewurst 5y ago…“when the setting for this feature is enabled”
- tech234a 5y agoYeah I was running into the title-length limit unfortunately. The setting was automatically enabled by default for me after the 96.0.1054.53 update. Users are shown a prompt like [1] that indicates that the setting is active, but users have to go into Settings to turn off the feature. - tech234a 5y agoThis seems like it may be similar to Microsoft was doing in 2011 [1]. However, while they are opting users in by default, at least they are being transparent about this, as I learned about this when I received a prompt that was similar to [2]. - nix23 5y agohttps://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/privacy-whitepaper/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/privacy-whit... An error occurred during a connection to docs.microsoft.com. The OCSP response does not include a status for the certificate being verified. Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_OCSP_RESPONSE_FOR_CERT_MISSING I love it ;)
- outloudvi 5y agoSure it's another problem: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1745600 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1745600
- Melkman 5y agoWait, what ? Mozilla is taking already more than 8 years to add SHA-2 support to mozilla::pkix's OCSP implementation ? This saddens me, the devs seem overloaded. As the only other open alternative to Chrome based browsers I hope they can stay current.
- outloudvi 5y agoWell... Chromium has long abandoned OCSP, so Firefox seems to be the only "major" browser that does it. (And Microsoft just straightly ignored and broke it. Twice. One on docs.microsoft.com and another on microsoft.com.)
- u2077 5y ago“ Microsoft practices data collection minimization” - I find that hard to believe especially when we are automatically enrolled in said data collection.
