A fab that isn't advancing its leading edge process at the rate the industry is moving ahead is, by definition, falling behind its competitors. When they can no longer provide a competitive process relative to other fabs, they will lose customers. GloFo is losing / has lost AMD as a customer. AMD saw what was happening and migrated their CPU cores to TSMC in order to remain competitive. I think that's pretty damn bad for GloFo! Just look how long it took Intel to recover from its missteps on their 10nm process. Catching up when you've missed a couple of process nodes is neigh impossible for a fab, as they start losing the cash flow needed to reinvest in process development, which causes them to fall further behind and lose yet more revenue. How is any of this not "bad"?
