There are days where I just wish we could get this collapse over with. I’m mid thirties and I don’t want to be old when the shit inevitably hits the fan. Between the situations in the Ukraine and Taiwan, the ageing population, the oft ignored second order effects of climate change like ocean acidification, and massive global economic inequalities that mean despite my parent’s generation having home ownership without onerous sacrifice compared to my own where I would basically become a mortgage slave despite interest rates less than a quarter of what they were for my parents… It’s all fucked, getting more fucked… and I really just wish sometimes that we could just get the damn bonfire over with. WW3? Sure it will be horrible but I’ll either be able to start trying to carve out a life in what’s left or I’ll be dead, but either way it will be something other than status quo watching humanity grind itself into paste in a parody of a cookie clicker game of virtual money sitting in the bank accounts of the world’s rich and powerful.
