Normal basements are almost underground bunkers, a reinforced concrete lid tied into reinforced concrete walls and the basement is survivable from F5.
- rufus_foreman 5y agoMost basements don't have reinforced concrete lids. They have a concrete floor and 4 concrete walls. The basement ceiling is not concrete typically, and in an EF5 tornado it floats away into the air like a feather. Survivable? Sure, with a probability distribution that I don't consider particularly favorable.
