I was going to say the same thing. In France if the speed limit is 50 km/h, you have to go 50 km/h unless there is a good reason not too. Outside of cities, on the main roads the speed limit is usually either 80km/h or 90km/h. A few times while learning to drive with an instructor, he told I had to reach the max allowed speed limit as soon as possible as to not slow down the traffic and failing to do that will make me lose points on the driving test.
