Wow, downvotes for asking a legitimate question about a pointless, contextless discussion between randos. What a lovely and welcoming community you have here.
- zepto 5y agoIt’s easy to Google Paul Graham.
- fullshark 5y agoDon't know who Sabine VanderLinden is, but Paul Graham is the cofounder of ycombinator and his tweets/blogposts are frequently posted here and discussed as a result. I'm not sure why this is interesting other than how it reflects misinformation can grow on social media?

- kevinventullo 5y agoPaul Graham created Hacker News.
- yannoninator 5y agoHN is controlled by automatic downvote bots, there are almost no real users on it, you just get used to it. edit: here we go, flagged, you see?
- mnd999 5y agoDownvotes (and flags) are getting ridiculous on this site. I’ve recently been downvoted for (among other things) criticising Tesla, speaking up for women, being a dick. Only one of those was justified. This will also get downvoted.
- Wowfunhappy 5y ago> This will also get downvoted. For breaking the community guidelines. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html > Please don't comment about the voting on comments. It never does any good, and it makes boring reading.
- mnd999 5y agoYeah, and it’s a dumb guideline. If there’s no feedback we will never improve. Slashdot used to have meta moderation for this very reason.
- yannoninator 5y agoWhat needs to be done is show a LIST of accounts who have downvoted or flagged a post. Then we can find out if there really are bots on this site. (I am leaning towards there are.)
- rg111 5y agoApart from Paul Graham being the co-founder of YC, it is highly interesting to see someone's "quote" getting refuted publicly, directly by someone they claim to have said something. I see a lot of quotes by Einstein, Abe Lincoln, and Gandhi every day that are so wildly imagined. Most basic common-knowledge being packed as quotes by them. And people upvote/like/share stuff like that like sheep. None of them are alive. They can't say anything to stupid stuff they are accredited to, but didn't really say. There are several fact-finding websites [0] run by people to debunk fake quotes and this is a common passtime of some nerds [1]. But here we see, in the age of Twitter, someone is getting caught red-handed by the exact same person, not some fact-finder, not some fact-checking site, etc. It is highly interesting to see. Isn't that the criteria for HN posts?
