Quite honestly, if the job description says "we are looking for the best of the best" or "we are looking for a talented java developer" I know this job isn't for me. Same with algorithm questions, if the interviewer asks me an algorithm question, I will switch off and politely put a cross that this role isn't for me. I don't have cs background and my CV is clear that I've not done anything like that. Edit: I am not a great coder by any means. I just don't like to waste my time when it's clear I am not a fit for the company or the role.
