Man jailed 6 years for refusing to disclose location of gold coins
- rurban 5y agoThis is odd. In the last CBS report they found out he already sold the gold for 50 mill without paying his partners their share, who paid him 12mill. What kind of gold do they want now? There is none left.
- johnthuss 5y agoThe original story about his arrest [1] has more details about the value of the gold and his evasion of police. 1. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/feds-reveal-how-fugitive-treasure-hunter-tommy-thompson-eluded-police-for-2-years/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/feds-reveal-how-fugitive-treasu...
- elzbardico 5y ago“Contempt of court” is the tool of authoritarian judges. A despicable disrespect for human right, far more dangerous than whatever crime this man may have committed
- nyokodo 5y ago> A despicable disrespect for human right It sounds like the guy defrauded some investors and promised to find the gold in a plea deal then reneged. I haven’t exactly reviewed the court documents but It doesn’t come across like an injustice to me. What am I missing? What do you recommend they do with him?
- AtlasBarfed 5y ago500 gold coins? So, like 500 oz? so not even a million dollars? How much does 6 years of jail cost the state?
- thfuran 5y agoProbably around 2-300k
