Anecdote time. I live in NYC and went to CVS recently. Picked up the following: * 12 pack of Bounty paper towels * a box of Q-tips * contact lens solution * 6 pack of Smart Water Cost me over $50 bucks. This sucks.

Two things: "cornerstore" prices, and overpriced water. (CVS isn't as expensive as convenience stores, but they aren't as cheap as grocery stores either.)
