I love the old South Bend and Atlas Lathes and Mills. I'm amazed that a machine made 100 Years ago can remain functional and as useful as it was on it's first day. It reminds me of the importance of maintenance.
- jacquesm 5y agoI donated an old South Bend that I restored when I left Canada to a United States friend living in the Rockies. Put it on blocks in the back of the pickup and drove it all the way there under a tarp. That was quite the trip. But I was really happy to find a community of people that were sure to put it to good use. I really loved that little lathe, as long as you went easy on the feeds it would work just fine. No play at all in spite of being ancient.
