I think we all recall the media coverage. That isn't the same thing as recalling actual interactions with doctors, and not recalling something (let alone not recalling media reporting) is different from recalling that a thing didn't happen.
They were all prescribed for a family member of mine who had cancer, in the sequence: oxycontin, then fentanyl, and then morphine. Nobody said anything about the addictiveness.
