I have a wall of shelves behind me for video calls and I spent a full week carefully selecting every single item on them, even purchasing new items, because I knew each item would be a point of discussion or shape how the other person on the call treats me. I feel compelled to do this because, in the absence of in person meetings, people will constantly be looking for something to judge about me. It's human nature. So a wild wall of 'Stuff' deflects that conversation away from me and onto that stuff.
