The statement at the bottom confused me: "The compliance with the reporting has reached close to 60%" but "zero incident reports" may lead to non-compliance (bad SQL queries ... anyone?) ... what scared me: When only 40% of all police departments file zero incident reports ... that mean that 60% of all departments had violent incidents.
Makes me sad.
- parineum 5y agoI think the 40% is what you should be worried about. The police are supposed to have a literal monopoly on violence. One should expect _some_ violent incidents. Remember, this isn't an "unjustified" use-of-force database, it's for all use-of-force incidents. The purpose is to be able to compare different departments number of incidents to help identify possible problem areas through comparison. If 40% of police departments are "never" using force, they are obviously lying.
