Agreed. One of the biggest intangibles of being an early employee is the amount learned, which (I imagine) is better than the learning for an investor. The path of early employee => founder is pretty well trodden. Aaron Patzer of Mint and Drew Houston of Dropbox are two immediate examples that come to mind. Who else am I missing?
