They had folks running a Denial of Service attack against their VNC services, so they implemented fail2ban style rate limiting.
This has nothing to do with the M1 silicon nor is it a design flaw.
- sdflhasjd 5y agoThe article is unfortunately devoid of much technical detail, but this does sound like an application layer DoS. Particularly for a service that's going to be exposed, it does seem like a flaw that unauthenticated packets would slow it down so much for legitimate users. It's not major though, and just adds to the huge pile of reasons why Apple's remote desktop sucks. "M1" is clickbait though.
