Radon is comparatively cheap to mitigate. Burying your head in the sand about that is kinda dumb. Completely removing lead is economically unfeasible. When we bought our house, which was built in '72, we replaced all the door jams and window sills. It wasn't as cheap as mitigating radon but it wasn't "tear out all the drywall" expensive, and should generally be good enough as long as you don't let the house completely deteriorate.
