Given the number of high-profile people involved, and the curious outcome that befell Jeffrey Epstein, I think conspiracy thinking may be a reasonable option to consider. It certainly does strike me as curious that the trial has been shortened to a week and the press mentions it barely at all. In this case, not being suspicious is frankly being naive.
