I'm imagining another method whereby you have a high frame rate video that only displays part of the image on any individual frame. Because of the high frame rate, the individual frames appear to merge together as a single image to the human eye. Any screenshot would only get one frame. You may have to stitch together multiple frames to get any useful data. I wonder if this would work.
