Think of all those super-expensive (in the US) drugs that are mediated by Cytochrome P450. If only they would say “take one tenth of the $250-per-pill dose plus a 50¢ glass of grapefruit juice.”
- bagacrap 5y agotypically the price of the prescription has little to do with cost of manufacturing, so if the doctor's orders were the quotation above, you'd just get a tenth as much drugs for the same price. (this has happened to me --- when the doctor ordered a reduced daily dosage, I got half the drugs for the same price)
- alexvoda 5y agoAnd behaviour like this is an obvious precursor to antivaxer conspiracies. If you or your peers become known as bad actors, it's no wonder you eventually are suspected (even falsely) of being a bad actor in unrelated situations. Combine this with power imbalances and unaccountability and you have all the fuel you need just waiting for a spark.
