Ask HN: What kind of meetings do you need to run and with what purpose?
I don't like to participate in meetings that are not prepared, where we spend time discussing the purpose of the meeting or worse where I cannot actually contribute.
So to fix this, I took over in multiple places the role of a meeting organiser where I define the purpose, who should be in, do prep work for the meeting, think about who should be there, have a clear agenda and timing and many other sides.
I realised recently that I somehow gained a lot of experience in organising some meetings for various purposes.
Here are some examples:
- process improvements
- project management improvements
- ideation
- customer feedback
- improving code reviews
- forming a new team
- prioritising work
- review requirements
...
And I was thinking if there is a need or case for writing about how to do good/effective meetings.
So I am curious what kind of meetings do you need to run in your daily jobs/work?
