Apple AirTags Are Now Being Used to Steal Cars in Canada
- renewiltord 5y agoOh, the AirTags are used to identify the location of a candidate for theft. Interesting. I guess I never thought about it but the top thieves probably have pretty good prospecting techniques. I have had the AirTag trigger the “traveling with you” thing on my friend’s phone when I left my wallet in my friend’s car so I know what the notification looks like, at least.
- philihp 5y agoCar mechanics have a backdoor around the security system of my car, and this is a problem. Rather than name drop Apple, perhaps we could dox the car manufacturers who have sold us superficial locks?
- steve_adams_86 5y agoI think if there was no back door, people might be even more upset. We want more convenient and secure keys, but we also don’t want to be permanently locked out of our cars accidentally. What’s the right thing to do? I’m asking sincerely. I’m not sure what the answer could be.
