Heck, even ICANN use the term propagation in their functional requirements for DNS, so does IETF in their RFC for DNS. People are just being too pedantic and nerdy of the use of the term. Of course one word cannot explain the technical aspect of how it actually works, that's why we use the term. It describes the general principle of how it works.
