A lot of people here talking about splitting semantic hairs/what it means to propagate/etc and not enough fond remembrances of when DNS really did take 48 hours - maybe more! - to update. Like at one point I remember being on the phone with the admins of a big dial-up, begging them to update sooner so we could fix a problem one of our customers was having. There was a time when computing resources were precious. Kids these days, I tell ya.
