Global Sequencer
- hereforphone 5y agoThis is nice. It would be much more interesting if the sound feeds were live. Maybe version 2?
- notahacker 5y agoLive sounds sounds like map-based audio chatroulette. On that basis, archived sounds blended together is probably more interesting sonically as well as safer for work...
- Minor49er 5y agoI thought that this would serve nothing but sounds that people have recorded from different parts of the planet, but many of these sounds are stock instrument samples which are served out of globalsequencer.com's images folder with filenames that identify the instrument. Original samples have a UUID name and are served by a Cloudfront bucket. That said, this is a fun site. The ambience that plays when the sequencer is paused is quite pleasant
- GabeIsko 5y agoI had better luck when I tried it. You might have to leave it running for a bit.
- Minor49er 5y agoI'm trying it again, but this time I made more adjustments in the sequencer mode at the bottom to include more original samples. I noticed that the same sample will play for a region, but if you deselect and reselect it, it will choose another one from that area randomly, which is nice. One thing I didn't notice before is that when you're in sequencer mode, another globe option appears at the bottom that plays the sequence in the globe interface. But if you spin the globe while the sounds are playing, it will play record scratch sounds, which is hilarious. I wish the scratches were caused by the samples themselves, like playing the active samples back at different speeds, but they seem to be independent. Plus, that might be tricky to program
- tudorw 5y agoAmazing, lovely work. Japan and UK are lit!
- ChrisArchitect 5y agoconfusing/misleading what this is -- but they did apparently get crowdsourced/submitted sounds from around the world a month ago before putting them up with locations on the site to be sequenced. Shrug ok/random experiment
- lux 5y agoFun experiment! Would be cool if you could select a specific sample from each region, which would increase the variety it would produce, and if you could share sequences with a link.
- grouphugs 5y agothis is using aws and spewing malware
- kingcharles 5y agoI really enjoyed this. Even if a lot of it was simply finding out what heavy breathing sounds like in every corner of the planet.
