Better, cheaper, more abundant random numbers
- eternityforest 5y agoRandom numbers are already cheap and abundant. a 32 byte seed and a clock is all you need. As one great article said, either crypto works or it doesn't. If we couldn't make good CPRNGs, why would we think we could make ciphers? If we can't make good ciphers, it doesn't matter all that much if the RNG is broken! We have lots of unbroken RNGs. And we can XOR independent ones together in such a way you would need to break them all to break the system. We have hardware RNGs on chips that we can combine with things. Randomness for practical computing purposes is already cheap, abundant, and seems to be pretty good, seeing as how we aren't all hacked all the time.
