Yes and no. There certainly is a focus on race, but the argument is that it's in response to a historical focus on race. African Americans are in large part of here because of their race-- specifically because of the view that it makes them inferior 'workhorses'. Even after abolition, Jim Crow laws and similar measures make it difficult to just ignore race when in fact it's clear large portions of the population are not willing to do that.
Op article is a great example. There's still a discrepancy in treatment. I'm not convinced that is caused by the capitalization of Black by the media so much as the other way around. But the media being the media-- manufacturing stories people want to read may play a part. Although that can be said about.. well just about everything. If it's true, it's still important to me
- dude187 5y agoThis article is a perfect example of the modern approach to race. The accusations of "racism" are not real, created from thin air. Which are then used to divide the population and spread hate.
- skinnymuch 5y agoThat is true. The parent of the comment you replied to is also a perfect example of modern approach to race. Not dissimilar to all the fighting against CRT.
- dude187 5y agoCRT is a real problem, and works to revitalize and amplify bigotry and hate.
- skinnymuch 5y agoOf course people like you believe that. You’re proving the point. Please, define CRT for me. Please explain how the founding fathers who didn’t give black peoples or women much if any rights, did not then view the world and base what they did on that thinking. Unfortunately this proves the point. People like you largely want the status quo to remain. Sometimes people will even, without a shred of awareness or irony, quote MLK while espousing this stuff.
