That's not what I'm implying at all. I'm saying Western propaganda is so thick and widespread only absolute totalitarian regimes can control it, otherwise it reaches everywhere and we're all brain-washed by it. There is no denying the CCP is a totalitarian regime.
- PoignardAzur 5y agoI mean, I guess you have a point from a certain perspective, but that sounds a lot like the mindset of a cult. "Widespread propaganda that the entire world believes except for the select few that live in a tightly controlled bubble where anybody who speaks out is violently silenced" has a lot of common properties with "things that are true".
- 1_player 5y agoThat's an incorrect argument of yours. Things that are true are, more often than not, widespread. It does not segue that an idea that is widespread has to be true. The very point and raison d'être of propaganda is to repeat an idea so often that people start to believe it, even if it has no basis in reality. But then again, plenty of books and philosopher-hours have been spent on the topic of "truth", which honestly becomes a semantic rabbit hole I'm not interested in diving in.
