I would like to point out: vim is a text editor. It exists to edit text. This is all it does. That's it. It is not an IDE. Maybe you can mangle neovim into an IDE shape, but not vim, not really.
Lots of complaints here boil down to "I can't [insert IDE feature here, e.g. use a debugger]". Of course you can't. You'd have a bad time using a hammer to put in a screw, too. But you can sure use a hammer to put in a nail.
If you want text editing, use vim. If you want an IDE, use Emacs, or VSCode, or whatever. Just don't complain about the hammer when you actually need a screwdriver.
- leeba 5y agoNot a neovim user, but given that it has built-in LSP support it doesn’t seem too far off from the features of VSCode.
