They’ll try to pawn it off on the police department where the fraudulent transaction occurred and that PD will tell you they don’t have jurisdiction and it’s really the PD where the victim is located who should investigate. Most police departments just don’t have the technical knowledge to look into these things. They send you around in circles, and maybe to an FBI form that goes nowhere, and wait for you to give up.
