I've been part of the space since years, and regarding the anonymity argument, I've never heard that anonymity protects against crypto-thieves. May be true though. But, I think generally it's wrong too. Neither does it mean that when you're a prolific dev, you're crypto rich. Or that you have to display your richness to everyone. The main reason I think people have opted to be anonymous is to avoid regulation.
