- speedgoose 5y agoWell, we had rumours of Google shutting down GCP not that long ago.
- baby 5y agoThey’re making so much money out of it that your comment makes no sense.
- arnvald 5y agoI'm not sure that's true. They don't reveal separate numbers for GCP, but they put it under "Google Cloud" umbrella with Google Docs and other products. The revenues are growing, but they're still losing money: https://www.crn.com/news/cloud/alphabet-earnings-google-cloud-revenue-climbs-54-percent-to-4-63b https://www.crn.com/news/cloud/alphabet-earnings-google-clou...
- speedgoose 5y agoIt was a joke. The rumours were real though.
- serial_dev 5y agoWere these rumors based on anything other than "Google will shut it down"? It is always the top comment no matter which product or service we are talking about, so it doesn't mean anything
- ocdtrekkie 5y agoThe exact framing was a statement that Google execs had given Cloud a deadline to reach a certain portion of the market, or it might lose funding. https://www.theinformation.com/articles/google-brass-set-2023-as-deadline-to-beat-amazon-microsoft-in-cloud?utm_source=hackernews&utm_medium=unlock&rc=gwp9j5 https://www.theinformation.com/articles/google-brass-set-202...
- speedgoose 5y agoNo it was based as ocdtrekkie said on supposedly internal leaks about Google wanting to be a leader soon or to give up the cloud market.
- hsod 5y agoWhat??
- iaml 5y agoIs it? I've been interviewing with them recently and they told me they're using their own internal framework.
