Former Ubiquiti whistleblower charged with hacking, extorting company
- nodesocket 5y agoWhere are all the apologies from outraged HN comments and media (Krebs looking at you) now? The “breach” news broke and everybody immediately backed the whistleblower and condemned the big evil tech company. Turns out the whistleblower was manipulating and lying in order to try and extort Ubiquiti and receive a BTC ransom. Funny how you don't see the same "media" issuing a redaction or apology for the damage they caused to the stock price of Ubiquiti or tarnishing their brand and reputation.
- robbedpeter 5y agoUbiquiti not handling the breach well and the whistle-blower being a piece of human scum are not mutually exclusive. Ubiquiti having this guy in a position to do the damage he did for as long as he did is not an endorsement of the company, either. Ubiquiti has all sorts of other issues tangential to this guy - some redaction might be warranted, but the whole thing being an inside job doesn't reflect well on Ubiquiti, canceling out all the criticism.
