I used to have a flat static html file where I pulled in various RSS feeds using Google's old RSS Javascript API. Yahoo also had a neat library called pipes that allowed you to do something similar. TBH i would avoid self hosting, as in my experience whatever middle point you will leverage for your feeds will end up being deprecated/sun-setted or whatever
