- errcorrectcode 5y agoNeat. This is new. I was afraid it was going to rehash metformin, which is an excellent medication.
- The_rationalist 5y agoALCAR is a significant help for diabetes too.
- caraffle 5y agoIt's new but not as new as the article tries to make it sound. Has been known for a while and is in use. Further, it's not going to "revolutinize" anything, it's another incremental med that has shown improvement in outcomes. Just like beta blockers and aldactone, it buys you some small clinical benefit.
- errcorrectcode 5y agoAnecdotally, the beta blocker propranolol crashed my testosterone levels, and slowed my hair and fingernail growth. I believe the latter are due to increased rT3 conversion, effectively medically-induced hypothyroidism.
- errcorrectcode 5y agoThere's always a degree of press-releasey hype in medication study result announcements.
- pmdulaney 5y agoThe term "heart failure" and the word "failure" strike me as incongruous. One would expect that someone who has experienced heart failure for more than a few minutes is by definition dead.
